Second Shooter Wedding Season - Take 2

This past weekend I was back in the Bay Area, well Petaluma, for another wedding to assist/second shoot with The wedding took place at the groom’s childhood home, a home that has been in his family for generations. Great ceremony, with a nice intimate feel at the family’s home.

Congrats Mark and Jen.

GRII - July

The GRII snaps continue in July. A few of this month’s shots are from the Contact High: A Visual History of Hip-Hop exhibit at the Annenberg Space for Photography, the State Capitol Building in Sacramento and the airport.

One of my favorite frame, or frames, it was when I caught a tour guide talking to a group about photos of California’s former Governors Gray Davis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. He made a joke about Total Recall, referring to Davis being recalled which led to Schwarzenegger becoming the next governor of California. Then how a small bill may get passed, so that all the photos of past governors in the Capitol will need a nameplate - Schwarzenegger didn’t think he needed one.

Anyway, enjoy.

Second Shooter Wedding Season - Take 1.

First things first, I don’t shoot weddings as the lead photographer - it’s not my jam. I really enjoy documenting moments as they unfold, using my photojournalistic background to capture those candid moments.

So that being said, there’s nothing like shooting a wedding with a great lead - that’s Tammy Horton in the Bay Area. I know Tammy from my television production days back in 2002 or so (?) - we both were production assistants on the television show Ripley’s Believe It or Not! We reconnected about two years ago, both of us now photographers, and she’s been bringing me into the wedding mix. She’s great at what she does and the best thing about “working” with her is that we push each other in a creative way.

This past weekend I worked my first wedding of the season with her and it’s going to be hard to beat. It took place at the Sequoia Retreat Center. Outdoors. Redwoods. Great light. Great couple. I don’t typically share stuff from weddings but why not, here’s my top picks.

Congrats Chris and Claire.
